How to be a Tool

hipstersLet me paint you a picture.  A grim visage of the modern conformist.  The truly scary part though, is that this person does not think they are a conformist.  They think they are bucking the trend.  Perhaps a description is necessary.  Have you ever worn this combination of clothing and accessories (i’m referring to men here).  A graphic T-shirt (where the graphic involves some form of vintage advertising), a blazer, ripped up skinny leg jeans, a white belt, and converse all stars.  There isn’t really anything wrong with any of these on their own… (except for maybe the advertising t-shirt) but in combination you have transformed into the new tool for the modern age.  The fucking hipster.

You see hipsters hate conformity.  After all they listen to bands you’ve never heard of and only shop at vintage stores.  They shop at whole foods, or better yet, trader joes.  They obviously love Ralph Waldo Emerson because they take his quote to heart “Whoso would be a man must be a non-conformist.”  Now even way back in high school i hated this fucking quote.  Why?  It’s intrinsically hypocritical.  If you are a non-conformist after all aren’t you just conforming to Emersons view of what a man should be?  And just like that, if you’re one of these hipsters you’re just conforming to what the hipster community thinks is cool. You fucking tool.
