I Have Better Taste Than You

DH (Dear Husband again, for those of you that are not constant readers) hates tyra. i don’t blame him, i know she’s quite annoying and much to his dismay - i watch ANTM (america’s next top model), the tyra show (when i would come home for lunch), and entertainment television where her loud mouth often pops up. she’s often judgmental, hypocritical and bitchy - and makes no qualms about it either.

the thing is, there are things that i really like about her. she is all for the strong proud independent woman, she’s articulate, she seems empathetic (at times) and self-deprecating. it got me to thinking - does being a strong woman and being judgmental go hand in hand? i feel that i am a SIW myself (strong independent woman) and felt that i was being too judgmental in my 20s so i made a conscious decision to work on that (and a conscious decision to switch to diet coke, and that was actually much harder and took many months to adjust). you might find this to be hypocritical of me to say, working on not being judgmental - since my posts are the opposite of that - but my friend told me that that’s what this site is all about. besides, it’s meant to be tongue-in-cheek anyways but most of you are too stupid to get it (oops there i go again, being judgmental…)

anyways, in the latest september issue of BAZAAR (did i mention that not only is it my bday month but also my favorite month since it has the thickest magazines - there is an article with tyra talking about how models don’t have to marry rich and old to be successful and can have their own careers. i think that’s just snazzy and i totally agree. if she empowers the stupid women out there to work hard and feel good about themselves, more power to her.

in other news, did you know that karl lagerfeld likes hip hop? he’s just so cool. i read this article on him where he says the most unKosher things, like he dislikes children and fat people. i found that to be hilarious - that’s what they mean when they say money = power, since it gives you the power to say whatever the fuck you want.

all the good TV is over until the fall begins, so that’s why i’m writing this post right now. i miss SYTYCD dearly (so you think you can dance) and ABCD (america’s best dance crew) just isn’t as good this season… regardless, i guess i’ll go back to watching the olympics.
