Teaching the tasteless everywhere

Tackiness

I don’t understand this about Asian immigrants in LA. They move to the burbs. They spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on these fat 5,000 sq feet homes, but then their cheap asses refuse to furnish their home tastefully. They still have furniture from the 1980’s, wurlitzer sound system and all. And worse yet, it is so glaringly obvious that their furniture was some bad living room set from levitz or wickes.

The best, however, is when they DO attempt to decorate “tastefully,” but it just ends up looking obscene. My mother’s house, for example, is this huge obnoxious home, with pallid white walls. Because she bought a brand new home, she one day decided to spend about 30,000+ dollars on furniture for her new house. Amidst the glowing white walls are furnishings from 18th century baroque France. The really ornate kind. You know what I’m talking about, the kind that is really HUGE, carved from wood, has silk seating, and there are a lot of pastel colors with gold trim.

Someone needs to call the decorator. Fast.

kimora lee is the perfect example of this “if it’s expensive it must be good” school of thinking. during cribs, if i had to hear her say “oh i got this from VERSACE’s estate sale” one more time i think i woulda puked.
